To a lifeboat
My hand clings to the crust

My tears wet the bread
But the crust is still hard
And the drowning man still clings
If he lets go who's gonna hear his screams?

I'm picking up the bread to take a bite
But instead I’m biting the tip of my tongue
The blooming of the red everlasting wets the bread
That with the blood and the tears finally softens

I think I've lost it, I drop the bread
It falls so softly
Into the white plate
I recognize a thin crack
Looks like a hair, or it's just
The impossible distance
Between the eye and the heart.
